About the Winemakers

Right Turn Wine Co. is a long time collaboration between Healdsburg friends Ross Reedy and Tyler Hayes, what started as backyard tasting sessions and bonding over adventures gradually grew into vintages of sampling ferments, blending trials, and eventually our first offering of wines.

We crafted these wines for the journey-wines we not only adore, but love to share. Each small batch tells a story of the landscape that’s close to our hearts, rooted in the sense of place that inspires us to keep exploring the areas we are lucky to call home and beyond!

The name is inspired by our go with the flow mentality, you're never lost if you don’t use a map and the philosophy behind our wine style is simple – we grow and harvest meticulously farmed fruit, bring it into the cellar and ferment it with as little manipulation as possible – little to no additives or commercial yeast.

It’s just not that deep, keep winemaking simple and enjoy the journey.

Since he was small Ross Reedy has learned an appreciation for the craft of winemaking, visiting his Grandfather up in the Alexander Valley, he learned how to grow grapes.  He then learned how to make them into wine with his Dad, punching down Cabernet Sauvignon ferments in the family garage.  This work-education program sparked a passion for winemaking, so it was only a natural progression going off to University at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo to study Wine and Viticulture.  He’s been the stalwart Winemaker at Truett Hurst and VML for many years now, and is the Consulting Winemaker for various other brands all across the world. When Ross isn’t making (or having a glass of) wine, he loves to be outdoors and can be found fishing with his two sons or attending a Thursday night concert at Little Saint with Tyler.

Tyler Hayes has always dreamed of adventure, from a childhood of romping in the rivers, creeks, and woods in his home state of Georgia, to the years of adventure in the Florida swaps, the Australian Outback, Central Ontago NZ, and now Northern California.  He has taken up residence in Healdsburg with his beautiful wife Gabrielle, and they are expecting their first baby in May (yes, yes please buy wine)! Since arriving in Healdsburg in 2018, Tyler has been relentlessly exploring every piece of Sonoma County.  Carrying his camera and taking it one day at a time, people that know Tyler will say he is always ready to chat and make friends (you know how he is).  He enjoys staying busy, so when he’s not working on Right Turn Wine Co., he is working for one of his favorite wine producers in Downtown Healdsburg or chopping onions for his next Cheesesteak popup as The Golden Steak Warriors.

With Right Turn Wine Co. we aim to keep that shared adventurous spirit alive and well through our wines and thoughtful practices in the winery.
